Cultural Dos and Taboos
1. A firm handshake, perhaps accompanied by a nod of the head is the customary Lithanian greeting.
2. Punctuality is very important for business meetings.
3. Direct eye contact should be maintained during conversation.
4. Address individuals with their title and last name unless invited to do otherwise.
6. If invited to an Lithuanian home, it is fine to bring a gift, such as chocolates, to the host or hostess.
8. One should always keep their wrists on the table when dining. Western European dining standards of convention are the norm.
9. Good topics of conversation include sports, family, culture, and international politics.
10. Dress is generally casual and should conform to the temperate climate. Business wear is more conservative; suits are the norm for both men and women. Eveningwear may be required for certain social functions and a well groomed appearance is advised.
