Cultural Dos and Taboos 1. A handshake is an acceptable form of greeting.
2. Stick to formal forms of address, including titles, unless invited to do otherwise.
3. One may be asked to remove one's shoes before entering a house.
4. Dress is generally casual but modest. Swimwear should only be worn at the beach or poolside.
5. Western style of table manners is the general rule of thumb.
6. Always ask permission before taking pictures of the people.
7. Do not get frustrated by the wait required for some services or amenities. Try to be patient and understanding regarding Palau's remote location in the world.
