Cultural Dos and Taboos
1. Direct eye contact with a firm handshake is the acceptable form of greeting. A woman will extend her hand first if she wishes to shake hands.
2. The visitor should be sensitive to discussion concerning the political situations of the past and present. An outsider's opinion is not always welcomed.
3. Safe topics of conversation are sports, culture, travel, business and family.
4. One should not photograph anything dealing with the military.
5. Modest dress, akin to conservative Western style of clothing, is appropriate in this country.
