Traditions and customs will very from island to island, but here are some general rules to follow as a whole:

1. Always ask permission before taking pictures of locals.

2. Modest dress for women requires that clothing cover the thighs.

3. Swimwear should only be worn at the beach or pool.

4. One may be asked to remove one's shoes before entering a house.

5. Village elders are always shown respect.
