Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on March 29 appointed former secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov to serve as Ukraine’s ambassador to Moldova. Zelenskiy said Danilov, whom he dismissed from the National Security and Defense Council on March 26, “will continue his work in the diplomatic direction.” Moldova is "an extremely important state” for Ukraine “both from the point of view of security challenges in the region and from the point of view of bilateral cooperation,” he said. Zelenskiy earlier on March 29 dismissed Mark Shevchenko from the post of ambassador to Moldova. Copyright © Mar 2024. RFE/RL, Inc.
